Batik India

It is pretty noisy around D-3 Udyog Kunj, especially with the NH-24 traffic always humming in the background. We spend most of our time here at Batik India dealing with wax and hot dyes. My hands are usually stained some color or another by the end of the day. It isn't a glamorous job. You walk into our space and you see racks of cloth drying and the smell of melting wax is always there. Some days the heat in the workshop gets a bit much, but that is just part of the work. We have been in this spot for a while now. People know us for what we do, which is just making these patterns on fabric. There is no big office or fancy reception area here. Just the work tables and the vats for dipping. I started doing this because it was what everyone around here was doing, and now it is just my daily life. Sometimes the patterns come out a little different because that is how handmade stuff works. It’s never perfect. We just get the orders ready and ship them out. The trucks come by late in the evening. It’s a lot of physical labor, carrying rolls of cloth and making sure the wax doesn't catch fire. You get used to the rhythm of it. It is just us doing our thing in this little corner of the industrial area, trying to get things finished before the day ends.
