Balaji Bastra Bhandar

Balaji Bastra Bhandar is located on the Main Road in Chipyana, Ghaziabad. We are very close to the railway crossing, so the sound of the trains passing by is a regular part of our day. As a Bastra Bhandar, we mainly deal with clothes and fabrics. Our shop is filled with rolls of cloth and different types of ready-made garments for people living in the area. It is not a high-end boutique or anything like that. We mostly sell practical clothes that people wear for work or simple family gatherings. The shop is quite long and narrow, with stacks of fabric reaching almost to the ceiling. We have a couple of lights that aren't very bright, and the floor is just simple tiles. When the railway gate closes, the traffic builds up right outside our door, and sometimes people wander in while they are waiting for the train to pass. We handle everything ourselves, from helping someone pick out a saree to folding up the heavy rolls of cotton at the end of the day. Ghaziabad can be quite humid, so we keep the doors open to let some air in, even if it brings in some noise from the street. We’ve been here for years and we know the tastes of the local people quite well. It’s a straightforward business where we just focus on selling decent cloth at a fair price to our neighbors.
