Aurora General Stores

The shop has been here in Paschim Enclave for a while now. We usually open up early when the sun is just coming up over Gh-12/107. People stop by for basic stuff like soap, biscuits, and matches. It gets pretty busy in the evenings when everyone is coming back from work. The shelves are mostly full but sometimes we run out of things if the truck is late. It is just a regular place where you can find what you need for the kitchen. We spend a lot of time counting stock or sweeping the floor after customers leave. The street outside can get noisy with scooters and cars honking. Sometimes we sit on the wooden stools and just watch the rain through the open door. It’s a simple life running a general store in this part of Delhi. We know most of the people who live in these apartments around here by name. They come in and talk about the weather or how high the prices are getting these days. We try to keep everything tidy but boxes always end up piling up in the corner. If you walk past the block, you can see our sign which is a bit faded now. Nothing fancy about the place, just shelves and a counter where we keep the change. It’s hard work being on your feet all day but that is just how it goes for us here. We keep a small radio on the shelf that plays some old songs while we work.
