Amit Kirana Store

If you live near the Gurudwara in Ghaziabad, you might have seen our shop on the Main Road. It’s Amit Kirana Store. I spend most of my day sitting behind the counter here. It’s a basic grocery shop, nothing too complicated. We stock the usual stuff like dal, rice, sugar, and tea. The mornings are usually the busiest because everyone wants their milk and bread early before they head out for the day. I’ve lived in Ghaziabad for years, so I know most of the faces that walk through the door. Some people have been buying their monthly supplies from us for a long time. It gets a bit dusty being right on the Main Road, so there’s a lot of cleaning to do every day. Dealing with the suppliers is part of the job, sometimes they are late with the deliveries and the shelves look a bit empty for a day or two, but we sort it out eventually. We don’t have a fancy computer system for billing, just a notebook and a calculator. It’s simpler that way for everyone. My son helps out sometimes when he’s not busy with his own things. We try to keep things that the local families ask for the most. Sometimes people just stop by to chat for a bit while they wait for their orders to be packed. It’s just a regular local shop. There is no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that makes a bit of noise while it spins.
