Our shop is in Kabari Bazar in Hapur, which is a place that’s always been busy as far back as I can remember. We have a lot of history in this spot. The building itself is old, and you can see it in the way the wooden shelves sag a bit under the weight of all the cloth rolls. We have piles of fabric everywhere, and sometimes it takes us a minute to find exactly what a customer is asking for. It’s a traditional kind of shop where people come in and sit down while we show them different materials. We don't have fancy air conditioning or bright neon signs. It’s mostly just us and the regulars who have been coming here for decades. Hapur is a small place in some ways, and everyone in Kabari Bazar knows each other’s business. We spend the morning sweeping the front and getting the stacks ready for the day. There’s no big marketing plan here; we just open the shutters and wait for people to come in. Sometimes we have tea with the neighbor while we wait for the afternoon rush. It’s a steady way of life. We’ve seen kids grow up and start coming in with their own families to buy cloth. It’s just what we do, day in and day out, in this corner of the market. It is honest work.
