I’ve been running A 1 Beattary for a few years now over at C 97 in Sector 18. Ramprastha Colony is where I grew up, so it made sense to open something here. The name has a little spelling mistake on the board, but I never got around to changing it since everyone already knows where we are. It’s a small shop. Batteries are stacked everywhere and there is usually a bit of a smell from the lead and acid, which you get used to. I handle most of the work myself. People come by when their cars won't start or their home inverters stop working during the power cuts. It gets busy in the summers when the heat makes everything fail. I don't have a computer for my accounts; I just write everything down in a big register. The floor is concrete and has some stains from the work. It’s not a fancy showroom with glass doors. Just a regular place where you can get your battery checked or buy a new one if the old one is dead. I spend most of my day sitting on a plastic chair out front when it’s not too hot. Sector 18 is a good place with lots of regular people. I know most of my customers by name now. Sometimes they stop by just to chat for a few minutes while I’m testing a battery. It’s a simple way to make a living.
