Varuna Art Framing & Gallery

We are over at number 7 in Sector 18. It’s a small space where we do a lot of framing work for the community. If you have an old photo or a piece of art that needs a border, that’s what we spend our days doing here. We have stacks of wood and plastic moldings all over the back room. It’s a bit dusty because of all the cutting and sanding, but that’s just part of the job we do. We also have a few pieces hanging up on the walls, sort of like a small gallery, but mostly it’s a workshop for us. People bring in all sorts of things, from wedding photos to big oil paintings they found. We talk through the different matting options and glass types with them. It takes a bit of time to get things just right, and we don’t like to rush the process. We’ve been here in Sector 18 for a good while, so we know a lot of the other shop owners who work nearby. It’s a creative job, in a way, but mostly it’s about being careful with the materials and the tools. Sometimes we get really busy and the frames take a week or two, but we try to be honest with everyone about the timing. It’s just us here, working with our hands and making sure things look decent before they go out the door.
