Our shop is located at B/115 in the New Kamal Kunj Society on IOC Road in Chandkheda. It is a quiet residential area, so we don't have the same crazy rush as the city center. We deal mostly with herbs and spices, which means the whole place has a very strong, earthy smell. Some days it’s turmeric, other days it’s dried chilies that make everyone sneeze. We spend a lot of time cleaning the herbs and making sure they are dry before they get packed away. It’s a lot of manual labor, sitting on low stools and sorting through piles of green and brown leaves. The society is nice, and we often see the kids playing outside while we are working. We have a small storage room that we try to keep cool, which isn't always easy in the Gandhinagar heat. The shelves are filled with jars of all sizes, and we spend a lot of time labeling them by hand. We don't use any fancy machinery for the packing, just simple scales and bags. It’s a slow process, but it’s the way we’ve always done it. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat or see what new items we have brought in. We don't have a big marketing plan; we just rely on people knowing where we are in the society. It’s a small, family-style operation where everyone chips in to help with the heavy sacks when they arrive from the farm.
