Kamal Trimming Lace Works

Our workshop is situated behind Lucky Saw Mill at Naroda Patia Post. It’s a bit of a specific location, right behind Lucky Saw Mill in Kuber Nagar on Naroda Road. We’ve got a lot of machines here that make all kinds of lace and trimmings for clothes. The place is usually quite noisy when everything is running, and there is thread everywhere you look. We spend our mornings setting up the looms and our afternoons checking the finished lace for any mistakes. It’s a small operation, just a few local people from the neighborhood working together. We don't have any fancy office space. Instead, we have shelves piled high with rolls of different colored lace and boxes ready for shipping. The light in here isn't the best, so we use some big lamps to see what we are doing. Sometimes the saw mill next door is louder than our machines, but we’re used to it by now. People from the city come by to see what patterns we have available. We show them what’s on the racks and help them find what they need for their sewing projects. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We just come in, do the work, and go home to our families. It’s a steady job and we’ve been in this spot for a long time. There isn't much more to it than that, really. We just keep the thread moving and the machines humming along day after day.
