Our office is over at No. 251 in Ward No. 12-C, Lilashanagar. It’s a plain building in a part of town that’s mostly about transport and logistics. Transmode Shipping Services has been running from here for several years now. The walls are mostly covered with maps and schedules, and there’s always a printer humming in the background. Shipping is a lot of paperwork—customs forms, bills of lading, and tracking sheets. We spend a lot of time on the phone with drivers and port officials. It can get a bit chaotic when a shipment is delayed or there’s a problem at the docks, but that’s the nature of the business. We aren't some massive multinational with a glass skyscraper. We’re just a small team in Lilashanagar making sure cargo gets from point A to point B without too much trouble. The office is functional, nothing more. We have a few desks, some filing cabinets that have seen better days, and a lot of tea to keep us going through the afternoon. It’s a practical job that requires a lot of patience. We’ve lived and worked in this area for a long time, so we know the local routes and the people involved in the trade. We just focus on keeping things moving. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s steady work and we take it one container at a time until the job is done.
