Our place is Meridian House, located at Plot No. 50 in Sector 8, right by the BM Petrol Pump Road in Gandhidham. Working in a port town like this means everything revolves around the shipping schedules. Meridian Fright Forwarders is right in the middle of it. The road outside is always full of heavy trucks and tankers going to or from the port, so it gets pretty dusty and loud. Our building is a simple two-story structure. The ground floor is mostly for the guys who handle the logistics and the drivers, while the upper floor has the accounts and management. It’s not the cleanest office you’ve ever seen, because the dust from the salt and the port finds its way into everything. We spend our days staring at shipping manifests and talking to customs brokers. It’s a lot of pressure when a ship is waiting, but that’s the life we chose here in Kachchh. We have a small corner where we make tea, which is the heart of the office. Everyone stops there at least five times a day. We don't have a website that looks like a tech company; we just have our ledgers and our phones. Most of us live in Gandhidham and have been in the shipping line for decades. It’s a tight-knit group. We just focus on getting the containers moved without too much trouble.
