We are over at 1589/2 Gandhi Nagar on the Akot Road here in Banosa. It’s a busy spot but we manage okay. Most of us are from around Daryapur and Amravati. We got together as Yuvasanwad Farmer Producer Companylimited because doing things alone was getting harder every year. The rains don’t always come when they should and the prices at the market are always changing. So, a few of us decided to use this space to store things and figure out how to sell what we grow without losing too much money. It’s not a fancy office. There are always bags of seed or some tools sitting in the corner. We spend most of our mornings talking about the soil and what the weather looks like for the next week. Sometimes people just stop by for tea and a chat about the crops. We don’t have any big corporate plans. We just want to make sure the folks farming in this part of the district get a fair deal for their hard work. It takes a lot of time to organize everyone, but it’s better than sitting around waiting for someone else to help us. The building is easy to find if you’re driving down from Akot. We are usually here until late evening unless it’s harvest time, then the office stays quiet because everyone is out in the fields getting the work done before it gets too hot or the rain starts again. It is a simple life but it keeps us busy and we like the independence it gives us.
