You can find our school over in the town of Lakshmeshwar, which is part of the Shirahatti Taluq in the Gadag district. School Chandan is just a regular place for local kids to get their education. We have a mix of students coming in from the town itself and some who travel from the smaller nearby villages every morning. The building is simple, made of basic brick and mortar, and we try to give it a fresh coat of paint whenever we happen to have some extra funds in the budget. Most of the people working here grew up right in this area, so we know most of the families quite well. We are not some big institution with hundreds of staff members. It is more of a small, close-knit group of people working together. The classrooms are basic with traditional blackboards and wooden benches for the students. We follow the state board rules and try our best to make sure every student understands what is being taught. Sometimes it is a bit of a struggle during the harvest season when some kids stay home to help their families, but we do what we can to help them catch up later. We have a small garden area that the students help us look after when they have free time. It is not a perfect place, and the roof might leak a little during the heavy monsoon rains, but we always manage to fix it and keep going.
