Out here in Toranagallu, at 121-45 Central Avenue, the environment is quite different from the city. It is an industrial landscape where the cement business is the main thing happening. We are part of the team that keeps the operations running at this site. The sun gets really hot in this part of the country, and the ground is often covered in a thin layer of grey dust from the works. Our office is right on Central Avenue, and we see the massive trucks coming and going at all hours. It is a big operation, but on the ground level, it is just us managing the local logistics and making sure the supplies are moving to where they are needed. We have people from all the nearby villages working here, so it feels like a big community effort. There is always a lot of noise from the machinery and the traffic, but you stop noticing it after a week or two. We spend a lot of time in safety gear, which is not very comfortable in the heat, but it’s necessary for the job. The work is tough and the hours are long, but there is a sense of pride in seeing the finished product heading out on the rail lines or the highway. It’s a very functional way of life here in Toranagallu, focused on getting things built and keeping the industry moving forward without any unnecessary delays.
