Working with glass isn't the easiest thing in the world. Our shop is at 471/5 in Nai Basti, right near the New Telephone Exchange. It’s a landmark that everyone uses to find us. The space is mostly taken up by large sheets of glass and the racks we use to hold them. You have to be careful where you step around here. We’ve all had a few nicks and cuts over the years, it’s just part of the trade. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon and makes everything sparkle, which is nice, but it also gets pretty warm. We spend a lot of time measuring and cutting, trying to make sure everything fits just right. It’s a noisy business with the sound of glass being moved and the grinders running. Nai Basti is a crowded neighborhood, so there’s always something going on outside our door. Kids playing, vendors selling fruit, people heading to the exchange. We’ve been at this address for quite a while now. It’s a family-run feel even though we’re just a regular business. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people usually just walk in or call us because they saw the sign. We keep things straightforward. If someone needs glass, we show them what we have, tell them the price, and get to work. It’s a basic way to earn a living.
