M. L. Rice Mills

M. L. Rice Mills is located out on Arian Wala Road in Jalalabad West, which is part of the Fazilka district. If you come by during the harvest season, you’ll see queues of trailers loaded with paddy waiting at our gates. It’s a massive operation when the rice starts coming in from the local fields. The air around the mill always has that specific smell of husks and drying grain. We have several large units for processing and sorting the rice. It’s a noisy environment with the conveyors and dryers running all day and night sometimes. We have a lot of local guys working the machines and moving the heavy sacks into the warehouse. The office is a small building near the front gate where we handle the weighbridge tickets and the grain samples. It’s often covered in a fine layer of dust, which is just part of the job when you’re milling rice. We don't have much time for formalities here; we just focus on getting the rice cleaned, processed, and bagged up for distribution. The road outside can get quite muddy when it rains, making things a bit difficult for the trucks, but we manage. It’s a tough business that depends on the seasons, and we’ve been through enough of them to know how to keep things moving smoothly even when it gets hectic.
