We’re located on Fazilka Road, specifically at number 75 in Priya Enclave, over at Lakh Raj’s place. He’s the son of Jinda Ram, and this is where Abohar Kisan Producer Company Limited gets its work done. It’s a simple setup near the Kassi Tey area. Being on the road to Fazilka means there’s always a lot of movement, but inside the enclave, it’s a bit quieter. We spend our time talking to the farmers from the Abohar region. Most of us grew up around here, so we know the struggles of the land and the markets. We don’t have a big corporate staff. It’s just a few of us who know how to handle the paperwork and the logistics of a producer company. The room we use is filled with chairs for when the members come by to discuss the season. There’s usually a pot of tea going and a lot of talk about the price of goods and the cost of seeds. We don’t have a mission statement on the wall; we just have a list of things that need to be done today. Sometimes the rain makes the road a mess, and it’s hard to get people together, but we manage. It’s about sticking together as farmers and making sure we don’t get left behind. It’s a practical place for practical people. Everyone knows where the keys are kept.
