Sarla Fashion Garments

Our place is at Plot No. 1, Sector 28, right off Mathura Road. It’s a big area and easy to find once you get into the sector. Sarla Fashion Garments has been running out of this spot for a good while. It’s mostly about the machines and the fabric here. The noise of the sewing is constant throughout the day, which we’ve all gotten used to. We have different sections for cutting and stitching, and it can get a bit messy with scraps on the floor. We try to sweep up every evening, but by noon the next day, it’s the same thing again. It isn't a showroom with bright lights. It’s a working factory where people are busy at their stations. We make a lot of different types of clothes. Sometimes the deadlines are tight and we have to stay late to finish a batch. The lunch break is usually the only quiet time we get. Everyone sits together and talks about things other than work for a bit. We don't really do much advertising. People usually find us because they know we are here on Mathura Road. We just keep our heads down and keep the machines running. It’s honest work and we take it one day at a time. The power goes out sometimes, and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, but that’s just part of being in this sector.
