P K Engineering & Welding Works

If you come down to the Faridabad N I T Industrial Area, you will find P K Engineering & Welding Works at 15-A. The whole area is full of the sound of machines and people working hard, and our place is no different. We spend most of the day with the smell of hot metal and the bright light from the welding torches. It’s a dirty job sometimes and our clothes are usually covered in grease or dust by the time noon rolls around. The shop at 15-A is where all the heavy lifting happens. We don’t have much in the way of a front office, just a desk with a lot of papers and some old tools sitting around. The floor is concrete and has some cracks from the years of heavy items being dropped on it. Working in an industrial area like N I T means there is a lot of dust in the air, but you get used to it after a week or two. We usually have the radio playing in the background but you can’t always hear it over the sound of the metal clanging. It’s a straightforward kind of life here. People come in with things that are broken or need putting together and we just get to it. We don’t talk much while we are working because of the noise. It’s just how things go at 15-A every day.
