Our place is located at No. 1/36 in DLF Industrial Phase -1. Being in an industrial area is quite different from a regular market or a shopping mall. There are always big trucks moving around and the constant sound of machines from the other units nearby. We focus on fashion items here, mostly assembly and finishing. The space is more of a busy workshop than a fancy showroom. We have rows of sewing machines and large cutting tables where the work happens from morning till night. It’s not the kind of place where people just wander in off the street to look around. Usually, it’s people coming for specific work or picking up large orders. The walls are painted a plain white, and we have some large windows, though they stay pretty dusty from the factory smoke outside. We work long hours, especially when there’s a big pile of fabric waiting to be turned into clothes. The tea man comes around twice a day on his bicycle, which is usually when everyone takes a short break. It’s a lot of hard work and sometimes the machines break down, so we have to wait for the repair guy to show up. We don’t have a fancy lounge or a coffee machine for visitors. It’s just a place where people come to get things done. The floor is often covered in loose threads and scraps of cloth by the end of the day. We sweep it all up every night before locking the gate.
