Indian Army

This is the office of Col Pritam Singh at 434 Sector 21 A in Faridabad. We’re part of the Indian Army, but being here in Faridabad feels a bit more like being in a regular neighborhood. The zip code is 121001. It’s a residential-feeling area, so it’s not as intense as being on a massive base. We have our office here and we handle a variety of administrative and coordination tasks. Col Pritam Singh has been here for a while, and the way we run things is pretty informal but still professional. We don't have a big corporate lobby. You basically just walk in and we’re all there working at our desks. There’s a lot of paper moving around and the phones ring fairly often. We know the neighbors and the local shops. It’s a very grounded way to work for the army. We aren't into big mission statements or promotional fluff. We just have a list of things to do every morning and we try to get through them by the evening. The house—or office—is comfortable. It’s got a bit of a lived-in feel, which we prefer over some sterile office building. It’s just a group of us trying to keep things organized from this corner of Sector 21 A. It isn't always exciting, but it’s important work that needs a steady hand and some patience.
