The place we call Cook is over at 638/13 in the New Baselwa Colony. This is in the Old F.B.D part of Haryana. It’s an older neighborhood, so the streets are a bit narrower and have more character than the newer sectors. The building is a bit aged, but it’s sturdy enough. We have a small sign above the door that says Cook. Inside, the space is mostly taken up by the equipment we use every day. There’s a distinct smell of the colony—a mix of street food and the local shops nearby. We’ve been at 638/13 for a good while, so we know most of the people on this block. The neighbors are mostly families who have lived here for a long time. Our workspace is a bit cluttered, with things leaning against the walls and stacks of supplies in the corners. It’s not a showroom; it’s where the work actually happens. The lighting is a bit yellow, giving the room a warm feel in the evenings. We keep a fan going near the door to circulate the air. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, and we just sit outside on the steps and chat with the neighbors until it comes back on. It’s just how life is in Old Faridabad. We don't really mind the pace here. It’s what we are used to after all these years.
