Chand Confectionery

Down here on 25 Feet Road in Sgm Nagar, things move pretty fast. Being at 2588 means we see everyone heading home in the evening. Most people in Faridabad know how this street gets. We started this confectionery because there weren't many places to grab a quick snack or some sweets around here. The glass jars on the counter are usually full of biscuits and hard candies. We spend a lot of time just arranging the packets so they look okay. It gets a bit sticky in the monsoon season. We have to keep cleaning the glass. The fridge hums all day long. Some days are slow and we just sit and watch the bikes go past. Then suddenly it gets packed with people wanting bread or milk before dinner. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us helping out. The neighbors are good people. Sometimes we talk about the power cuts or the price of sugar. It’s a small space so things can feel a bit cramped when it's busy. We try to keep the stuff fresh though. If the biscuits get soft we don't sell them. My hands are usually busy with weighing things out or bagging stuff up. It’s a simple life running a shop in this part of town. You get to know what everyone likes to eat. It is just a regular place for regular folks to get their sweets.
