Chakanayan Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are a small group of farmers located around the Kusunapur and Jamunti areas. This whole thing is basically run from Damadar Naik’s place since he had the space for us to meet up and store some of our stuff. We aren't some big city business with fancy offices. Most of our days are spent out in the mud or the dust, depending on the month. We grew up on these lands and decided that working together made more sense than everyone struggling on their own. It is just a bunch of neighbors trying to figure out how to get the most out of our crops. We talk about seeds and tools over tea and try to plan for the next season without getting too overwhelmed. The name Chakanayan is on the official papers, but to most people around here, we are just the folks who are always busy in the fields. We don't have any big marketing speeches to give. We just grow what we can, like rice or vegetables, and try to make sure we don't lose money doing it. Some days are harder than others, especially when the weather doesn't go our way. We’ve had some bad years, but we just keep going. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to change the world; we are just trying to keep our farms going and provide for our families in Jamunti. It is hard work, but we are used to the long hours and the heat.
