Down near the fruit market on Naroda Road, there’s a whole row of industrial units, and we’re at number 21. This part of Ahmedabad is always moving. You can smell the chemicals and the exhaust from the trucks as soon as you turn into the colony. We make different kinds of chemical products here. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear your Sunday best. We’re usually in boots and heavy shirts, mixing batches and checking containers. The floor is concrete and it’s seen better days, but it holds up. We have to be careful with everything we do because of the nature of the materials. It’s a lot of weighing things out and watching temperatures. Sometimes the heat in the summer makes the work even tougher, but the guys are used to it. We don't have a fancy website with stock photos of people in lab coats. We’re just a bunch of people in a workshop making sure the orders go out on time. The neighbors are all doing similar stuff, so there’s a lot of clanking and shouting between the units. It’s a rough and ready environment, but it works for us. We’ve been here for years, and we know our way around every pipe and tank in the place. It’s not fancy, but we get the mixtures right and keep the trucks loaded every day.
