Jalesar-Safal Farmer Producer Company Limited is based over in Vill Musiyar, near Jalesar in the Etah district. Ram Chandra handles a lot of the coordination from his place. We are a bunch of local farmers who decided that sticking together was the only way to survive the way the markets are moving these days. Life in Musiyar is mostly about the cycles of the moon and the arrival of the monsoon. We grow what we can and try to make sure everyone gets a fair share of the work and the rewards. It is a slow process and we make mistakes along the way. Sometimes the paperwork for the government is a headache, but we sit down together and get it done. The office is really just a room where we keep our files and meet up after a long day in the sun. We are not some big corporation from the city. We are people who have lived in Jalesar all our lives. We know the roads and we know who grows the best produce in the village. This company is our way of making sure the small farmers don't get left behind. We buy seeds together and talk about how to keep the pests away. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. If you are ever in Distt Etah, you might see us out in the fields or near the post office in Jalesar just doing our regular chores and talking about the crops.
