We are over here in Darabpur Barai, working out of Ompal Singh’s place. It is a quiet spot but there is always a lot going on with the crops. Most of us grew up around these fields, so starting Daravpur Om Prakratik Farmer Producer Company Limited felt like the right thing to do for the village. We spend our days dealing with the soil and making sure the harvest is okay. It isn't fancy work. Sometimes the weather doesn't help us much, but we keep at it anyway. The village life keeps us very busy. We mostly talk about the rains or the price of seeds when we meet up in the evenings. Being part of this group helps us share the load. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just looking after our bit of land and making sure the families here have what they need to survive. If you ever come down this way towards Etah or the nearby districts, you will see how we live. It’s mostly just hard work and hoping for a good season next year. We handle the paperwork in the evenings after the sun goes down and the work in the fields is done. It gets dusty in the summer and muddy when it rains, but that is just how farming is. We take things one day at a time here. Every season brings something new to learn.
