Maruthi Engineering

I've been coming to this shop at B3 in the Sidco Industrial Complex for quite a while now. We are right on Chenninalai Road, and if you look across, you can see the Disel Logo Shead. It’s a busy spot. Most mornings start with the sound of machines warming up and the smell of oil. It isn’t fancy here. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with the work at hand to worry about that. My desk is tucked in the corner behind some stacks of metal parts. We get a lot of people dropping in because they saw the sign while driving past the shed. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside, so we spend a bit of time sweeping up every afternoon. It’s just how it is in this part of town. The tea stall nearby does a good business because all of us from the different units gather there around eleven. You hear a lot of stories about how the area has changed over the years. Maruthi Engineering has been part of this landscape for a good stretch. We just focus on getting through the pile of orders sitting on the bench. Some days the power goes out for an hour, and we just sit outside and wait it out. It’s part of the routine. We don’t have any big corporate slogans. We just show up and do the work.
