Jayam Garments

Starting early at Jayam Garments in Poosaripatti Soolai. We are at No. 55 B. It is a small place. We have some sewing machines. Most days it gets loud with the motor sounds. We started this because people around here needed work. It is not a big factory. Just a few rooms where we cut the fabric and stitch things together. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit. The address is easy to find if you know the Soolai area. We handle different kinds of clothes. Mostly basic stuff that people wear every day. My cousin helps with the cutting. We spend a lot of time looking at thread colors and making sure the seams are straight enough. It isn’t fancy here. There are piles of cloth in the corner and scraps on the floor most of the time. We clean up every evening before locking the gate. If you walk down the street you can hear the machines running from the road. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. Some of the neighbors stop by to chat while we are working. It’s a busy life but we get by. We don't have a big office or anything, just the work tables and the storage space for the finished pieces. That is how it is. We just keep working every day and hope the orders keep coming in so everyone stays busy.
