Glossy Apparels

Finding us at 3/38, Sdn Colony isn't always easy if you aren't from around here. We are right behind the Urban Bank, near the Bus Nilayam Kilapuram. It’s a bit of a tucked-away spot, but that works for us because it stays a little quieter than the main road. Glossy Apparels is where we spend most of our waking hours. We have a row of sewing machines and a big cutting table that takes up half the room. Usually, there are scraps of fabric all over the floor by noon and we have to sweep up before leaving. We do a lot of shirts and pants, mostly stuff that people wear every day. It’s not high fashion or anything, just solid clothes that last for a long time. The tea break is at four in the afternoon, and we usually sit near the back entrance where there’s a bit of a breeze coming through. Our neighbors are mostly families, so we try not to make too much noise late at night with the machines. The lighting in the shop is a bit harsh, but it helps the tailors see the stitches clearly. We keep the finished goods in plastic bags on the shelves until the trucks come to pick them up. Sometimes the delivery guy gets lost and calls us five times from the bank. It's just a regular small business. We deal with broken needles and thread jams every day. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on.
