Spice Valley Traders

We started Spice Valley Traders here in Kalady Alwaye quite some time ago. If you come by Kolenchery, you'll see our place right where the main road curves. It's usually pretty busy with the smell of different peppers and seeds being moved around. There are about four of us working here most days. We spend a lot of time checking the bags and making sure everything is dry before we move it along. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a sturdy building with a lot of heavy lifting. My cousin used to run a small stall nearby, and we just decided to do something bigger on our own. Some days the humidity in Kerala gets to us, especially when we’re stacking the turmeric sacks, but we just keep the fans going and get on with it. We mostly deal with the local growers who bring their harvest in the back of their old trucks. It’s noisy and dusty, but it’s what we know. People often ask us why we stayed in this specific spot in Kalady, and honestly, it’s just where we’ve always been. We know the neighbors and they know us. We don’t have any big corporate plans. We just want to make sure the spices get where they need to go without too much trouble. Sometimes the rain slows us down, but that’s just how life works around here. We’re just regular folks doing an honest day's work.
