Priyom Masala

We are based in Kumarapuram, over in Cochin, near Kakinada. Priyom Masala is what we call our little operation. We deal with different types of masalas and ground spices. The building is an old one, but it does the job for us. Most of the time, the air is thick with the smell of ground chilies or turmeric. It makes you sneeze if you are not used to it. We have a couple of grinding machines that make a lot of noise during the day. It is a family-run kind of thing, so we do not have a lot of formal rules. We just know what needs to be done. We get the raw spices in and then we process them. It takes a lot of effort to get the mix right, but we have been doing it for long enough that it is mostly second nature now. The neighbors do not seem to mind the noise or the smells too much. We try to keep to ourselves and just focus on the work. Sometimes the humidity in Cochin makes things tricky, so we have to be careful with storage. We do not have a website or anything like that. People just know us from around here. It is a humble place, just some rooms filled with bags and machines. We are just regular folks trying to make a living with spices. It is not always easy, but we enjoy the work.
