Pintu Spices

The smell is the first thing you notice when you come toward Vii/217 in Peringole. We are based in the Moosaaripady area of Kolenchery, and the air around our place is always thick with the scent of whatever spices we are handling that day. It’s a small operation, really. Pintu Spices is run out of a building that’s been in the area for quite some time. We don’t have automated machines for everything; a lot of the sorting and checking is still done by hand. The floors are a bit uneven and the lighting isn't the best, but we know where everything is. Kolenchery is a nice place to work, though it gets very wet during the monsoon. We have to be careful to keep everything dry when the rain starts pouring down on the roof. People from the village often stop by just to say hello or to see what’s fresh. We don’t have a marketing team or a website that looks professional. It’s just us, some bags of spices, and the daily grind of weighing and packing. Sometimes the work is slow, and other times we are scrambling to get everything done. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from morning until evening. We’ve lived here a long time, so we know the local tastes and what people are looking for when they come to Moosaaripady to find us. It’s just a simple life here in Kolenchery.
