Malabar Products

Working out of Alengad near the Muttithadi Post office has its ups and downs. The rain really comes down hard during the monsoon and we have to make sure everything stays dry inside. We’ve been at number 48 for a few years now. It’s a small building but it works for what we do. Malabar Products isn't a huge name you'd see on a billboard, but the local folks around here seem to know us well enough. We spend a lot of time on our feet moving crates around. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow part of the road and we have to walk out to help the driver navigate. Inside, it’s mostly shelves and a couple of desks that have seen better days. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who grew up in this area. We drink a lot of coffee while we work. The walls are painted a dull yellow that's peeling in the corners but nobody really minds. We focus on getting the orders ready for the post. It gets loud when the packing tape starts rolling. My hands are usually a bit rough from handling all the cardboard. We try to keep things organized but sometimes a pile of boxes gets a bit too high. It’s just how a small shop operates. We shut the shutters around six and go home. It’s steady work and we get by just fine.
