Devas Foods & Spices

Our place, Devas Foods & Spices, is located at number 17 on Purakkeli Road in Nettoor. If you walk inside, the first thing you notice is the heavy smell of different spices like pepper and cardamom. It’s so strong that new people usually end up sneezing for the first few minutes. We spend the whole day sorting through piles of raw spices and getting them ready for the grinders. It’s a messy job because the fine dust gets into everything, including our clothes and hair. Nettoor is a decent place to be based, and Purakkeli Road stays fairly busy with delivery bikes. We have some old machines that make a lot of noise when they are running, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. The building is an older one and the ceiling has some water marks from the last monsoon season. We don't really have a fancy reception area, just a small space where we keep the finished sacks. Sometimes the power cuts out and everything goes quiet, which is actually a bit of a relief for our ears. We just wait for it to come back on and then get right back to the packing. It’s just me and a few others working here, trying to keep up with the local demand. We aren't trying to be some massive company, just a small local setup in Nettoor doing what we know how to do best.
