Akay Spices

Akay Spices is located out on Plot No. 154 in Akanadu. We are part of the Mudakuzha Post area, specifically in a spot called Kurichilakodu. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, but this is where we have the space to handle all the spices we deal with. The air here is different than in the city; it’s heavy with the scent of whatever we are drying or bagging that day. We have big tarps spread out when the sun is out to dry things naturally, and we have to be quick to pull them in if it looks like rain. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving heavy bags and sorting through piles of cloves or pepper. We don't have a big office or a reception area. If you come by, you’ll probably find us in the middle of the warehouse area with our sleeves rolled up. We deal mostly with bulk stuff, so we don't have small pretty jars on display. It’s honest work that leaves your hands smelling like cardamom for days. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to stop the bagging machines, which throws our whole schedule off. We just sit outside and wait for it to come back on. It’s a quiet life out here in Akanadu, just focusing on the crops and getting them ready for the market without any extra fluff or fancy talk.
