We’ve got our office at 28/961 B in Panampilly Nagar, Cochin. If you know Cochin, you know Panampilly is a busy place but also has its quiet corners. A. V. Thomas & Co. Ltd. has been around for a long time. Even though we have "Ltd" in our name, we still feel like a local outfit. The building is an older one, and we’ve been here so long that the walls could probably tell a few stories. We deal with various bits of business that come through the port or the local markets. Our desks are usually piled high with folders and ledgers. We don't use those ultra-modern glass partitions. It’s just an open space where we can talk to each other without shouting. The weather in Cochin can be quite humid, so we usually have the fans going full blast. We are just a group of people who have spent most of our careers here. We know the local rhythms, like when the traffic will be bad or when the rains will start. We aren't here to make a big show of things. We just do the work that needs doing and try to stay organized. It’s a comfortable place to work and we’ve become like a small family over the years. We close up around six and head home to avoid the worst of the Cochin traffic.
