Indira Gandhi Public Residential School

Our school is over at the J K Complex on Railway Station Road. Being in Gamharia means we are close to the tracks, so you can hear the trains passing by every now and then. It is a residential school, so some of the kids actually stay here in the dorms throughout the term. The Seraikela Kharsawan area is where we all live and work, so it feels like a small community inside the gates. The building is part of a larger complex, but we have our own section for the classrooms and the living quarters. It isn't a luxury setup, just basic rooms with beds and cupboards for the students. We spend a lot of time making sure the kitchen is running right because feeding everyone three times a day is a big job. The staff stays busy with chores and teaching. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. It’s just a school where children live and study together. Sometimes the power goes out, but we have some backup for that. The station road can get pretty crowded during the day with people coming and going from the trains. We've been at this address for a while and most people in Gamharia know the J K Complex. It’s a practical place. We don't have a lot of fancy decorations, just the stuff the kids make in class. It’s a bit worn, but it feels like home for the ones who stay here. We try to keep things organized and safe.
