Zharna Waterfall Resort

Zharna Waterfall Resort is up here in Rumtek. It’s a bit of a drive, but the air is different once you get away from the main town. We have a few rooms and a lot of stairs because of the hills. Running a place out here means dealing with the weather and the terrain every day. Sometimes the water pressure is a bit low, or a light bulb needs changing in one of the cottages. We spend our mornings cleaning up the grounds and making sure things are ready for whoever is arriving. It’s not a five-star hotel with gold faucets. It’s just a place to stay while you look at the hills or visit the monastery nearby. We have a kitchen where we cook basic meals. The staff is just a handful of local people who grew up around these parts. We know the roads and the shortcuts. When it rains, everything gets very green, but it also gets a bit muddy around the paths. We don't have a big marketing team. Mostly people find us because they want some quiet or they’ve heard about the waterfall nearby. We sit out on the porch when there aren't many guests and just enjoy the view ourselves. It’s a slow life, and we like it that way. We just keep things running as best as we can without much fuss. If someone needs a towel or some tea, they just find us.
