You can find us over at Krema Pao in East Kameng, though our registered name, Sawaagro Navkrishak Farmers Producer Company Limited, points towards Sawa and Seppa in West Kameng. It’s a bit of a mix because our farmers are spread out across these areas. We work through Khya Melar’s place. We are just a collective of people who have been farming these hills for generations. The 'navkrishak' part of our name means we are trying to be modern farmers, but the work is still as old as time. We spend our days dealing with the soil and the seasons. Being in a place like Sawa means you are really connected to the environment. We don't have a polished office or any marketing people telling us what to say. We just talk about the price of seeds and how to get the trucks up the winding roads when it rains. The office is just a room where we keep our books and meet to make decisions. It’s not always organized perfectly, but we get the job done. We aren't looking for awards or anything like that. We just want to make sure that the crops we grow actually make it to someone's table. It’s a practical, everyday struggle to keep things going, and that’s really all there is to our story.
