Srinivasa Foods

Our place, Srinivasa Foods, is situated in Kotha Peta, right near the Abhilash Hotel. If you are walking down the main street, you just look for the hotel sign and we are right there. We deal with a lot of food products, mostly grains and packed items that people use in their kitchens every day. The shop isn't very large, but we make use of every inch of space we have. There are sacks of rice stacked in the corner and smaller packets of spices lined up on the wooden shelves. Kotha Peta is a busy area with a lot of foot traffic, especially in the evenings when people are heading home from work. The noise from the street and the hotel next door is constant, but you get used to it after a while. We spend a good part of the morning sweeping the floor because the dust from the road always finds its way inside. It is a simple setup where we handle the customers ourselves. No fancy uniforms or computerized systems that break down; we mostly write things down in a notebook and use a basic calculator. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to say hello while they are out on their errands. It feels like a small part of a much bigger machine here in this neighborhood. We keep things moving, making sure the stock is fresh and that the shelves are never empty for too long.
