Sri Rice Mills is tucked away in Ramakrishna Naagar. If you’re looking for 4-3-872, you’ll find us easily enough in Rajahmundry. The smell of rice is everywhere here, it kind of gets into your clothes and stays there. We have these big machines that make a lot of noise, but after a while, you don't even hear it anymore. It’s just the background of our day. We get the paddy from local farmers and then we spend the day turning it into something people can actually cook. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting heavy sacks and watching the sorters. The heat in Rajahmundry can be pretty bad in the afternoons, so we drink a lot of tea and try to stay in the shade when the machines are running. We aren't a massive operation with a hundred employees. It’s just a handful of us who know how the equipment works. Sometimes a belt breaks or a motor acts up, and we have to spend half the morning fixing it with grease on our hands. That’s just part of running a mill. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here. We’ve been at this for a long time, and we plan to stay as long as people still need rice on their plates. It’s a steady life and we’re grateful for it.
