Sri Lakshmi Srinivasa Rice Mill

Our rice mill is over at 7/149 Pikkavari Veedi in Vetlapalem. It is an old building that has seen a lot of grain come through its doors over the years. Sri Lakshmi Srinivasa Rice Mill isn't a modern factory by any means. It’s a working space where things get loud and dusty when the machines are going. We spend our days watching the equipment and making sure the bags are filled properly for the local farmers. Vetlapalem is a quiet enough place until harvest season hits, then the whole street gets packed with tractors and trucks. Pikkavari Veedi is a narrow road, so it can be a bit of a struggle to get the bigger vehicles in and out, but we’ve gotten used to it after all this time. We have a small group of guys who know the machines inside out. We don't have a website or do any marketing. People just know we are here. Sometimes a belt breaks or a motor acts up, and we have to spend the afternoon getting our hands dirty to fix it. That is just part of the life here. The smell of raw rice is always in the air. We don't have any big corporate goals or mission statements. We just want to do the work well so people can have their grain. It is a simple, honest way to make a living in this part of town and we have been at it for a while.
