Laxmi Ganpati Rice Mill

Down in East Godavari district, specifically in Rayavaram on Mahendra Wada Road, is where Laxmi Ganpati Rice Mill sits. This part of the country is famous for its rice, and we are right in the middle of it. The weather here is almost always warm, and the humidity can be a real challenge for the workers, but we are used to it by now. Our mill isn't anything spectacular to look at from the outside, just a big functional building meant for processing grain. We work closely with the local growers in Rayavaram. When it’s harvest time, the road out front gets packed with carts and tractors full of paddy. We try to keep things moving as fast as we can so nobody is waiting too long in the sun. Inside, the noise of the hullers is constant. We’ve had some of the same equipment for a long time because it still does the job well. The floor is usually covered in a thin layer of dust, no matter how much we sweep. It’s a practical place for practical people. We don't use big words or try to act like a corporate office. We are just a local mill providing what the community needs. Every day is about the rice and the people who bring it to us. We just keep our heads down and do the work as best as we can.
