Z S Engineering Works

You’ll find Z S Engineering Works tucked away in Khurji Khas, right in that School Wali Gali near the Scope Minar. It’s a tight street, especially when the school lets out and the kids are everywhere. Our shop isn't very large, but we’ve crammed a lot of machinery into the space. There’s usually a pile of metal shavings near the door and the smell of cutting oil in the air. We’ve been working out of this lane for a while now. The Scope Minar is a good landmark, otherwise, people might miss our little turning. We don’t have a website or a marketing person to handle things. Most people just walk in because they heard from a friend that we can fix whatever metal part broke. My brother and I usually handle the heavy lifting. We have an old fan that wobbles on the ceiling, keeping us from melting in the summer heat. The workbench is scarred from years of welding and hammering. We keep our tools in mismatched boxes, but we know exactly where every wrench is. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit on the front step and talk to the neighbors until it comes back on. It’s a simple life, mostly just measuring things and making sure the fit is right. We don't mind the grease on our clothes at the end of the shift. It just shows we were actually doing something useful today.
