Working at H-44 in Laxmi Nagar means you have to be okay with stairs. We are on the third floor, and after the third time going up and down in a day, you definitely feel it. The office for Yks Designs is a busy spot. Laxmi Nagar is always crowded and noisy, but once you step inside, it’s just the sound of us working on our layouts and talking about projects. We’ve got a lot of paper samples and color swatches lying around on every available surface. It’s not a large office, but it’s ours. We have a few big windows that let in some light, though the view is mostly just other buildings and the tops of trees. The walls are covered in old sketches and bits of inspiration we’ve pinned up over the months. We don’t really have a cleaning crew that comes in every night, so things can get a bit dusty, but we don’t mind. It feels like a real workshop. We usually start our day with a quick talk about what needs to be finished. There isn't a lot of hierarchy here; we all just pitch in where needed. If the printer jams, whoever is closest fixes it. We drink way too much tea during the day. Sometimes we have clients come by to look at designs, and we just clear off a corner of a desk for them to sit. It’s a simple, straightforward way of doing things.
