We are based down in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Even though the paperwork shows a 110096 pin code, we are very much a local operation here. Dealing in granite means our days are filled with the sound of stone moving and the dust that comes with it. We aren't a big corporation with lots of levels of management. It is just a few of us making sure the granite gets to the customers. The weather in Allahabad can get incredibly hot in the summer months, so the stone slabs in the yard are often warm to the touch. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating with the transport people and the guys at the quarries. People usually find us because someone told them we were here. We don't spend money on big ads or anything like that. We just have our office and the space for the stone. It’s a bit of a messy business, but we like it well enough. We have samples scattered around the office so people can see the different colors and patterns. Sometimes the shipments are late because of the long roads, and we just have to deal with that. We focus on the daily tasks like checking the invoices and making sure the loading is done safely. It is straightforward work for people who need good stone for their buildings. We just keep things simple and get the job done.
