The Azad Hind Handloom

The Azad Hind Handloom is at C 324 in the Gharoli Extension, Mullah Colony, over in Mayur Vihar. It’s a bit of a journey to find us if you don't know the area well. The streets around Mullah Colony are quite narrow and always full of people. Our place is filled with the smell of yarn and the sound of handlooms. It’s a very old-fashioned way of working, and we like it that way. We spend our hours at C 324 moving back and forth, making sure the cloth is being made correctly. There is a lot of dust from the threads, so we have to sweep quite often. We don't have any big advertisements or a glass storefront. It’s just a workshop where we produce handloom goods. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we know the machines so well we could almost work in the dark. We’ve been in Mayur Vihar for a long time, and the building at C 324 has seen a lot of years. We don't have a big team, just a few people who have been doing this for a while. We share stories and tea while we work. It’s a very human way to spend the day. We don't try to act like a big company. We are just weavers and workers at The Azad Hind Handloom. Our hands are often tired at the end of the day, but that is part of the job.
