Shahji Dairy

Shahji Dairy is located right on the Mandawali Main Road. If you live around here, you probably pass us every morning. The main road is always full of cars and people walking to the bus stop. We open very early, long before the sun is up, because that is when the fresh milk arrives. The smell of milk and curd is always in the air here. We have big metal cans and some refrigerators for the paneer and butter. The shop is simple with white tiled walls that we wash down every day. It’s important to keep things clean in a dairy. People come in with their own steel containers to get their daily supply. Sometimes the line gets long in the morning and we have to work fast. Being on Mandawali Main Road means it’s always dusty outside, but we try to keep the inside cool. We don’t have much furniture, just the counters and the milk machines. Shahji Dairy has been a part of this neighborhood for quite a while now. We see the kids growing up and coming in to buy packs of milk for their parents. The traffic on the road can be a headache sometimes, especially when the trucks are unloading. But we are used to it by now. We close for a few hours in the afternoon when it’s too hot and then open again for the evening rush. It is just a regular shop.
