The shop is tucked away in Guru Nanak Nagar, Gali No 4. Finding Veacon House isn't too hard once you get into the lane, but the traffic can be a real headache some mornings. We've been operating out of W Z 208 for a while now. Inside, it’s mostly just tools, grease, and whatever engine or machine we’re currently tearing apart. The floor has those dark oil stains that never really come out, no matter how much sawdust we throw down. It’s a small space, so you have to watch your shins when you walk past the workbenches. We do a lot of mechanical work, which basically means we spend our days covered in grime and trying to figure out why something stopped spinning. It’s not fancy work, but it’s what we know. Sometimes a neighbor will drop by just to chat or ask for a wrench, and we don’t mind. The lighting isn't the best, so we use those handheld lamps to see into the dark corners of the equipment. It gets cramped when there are two or three projects going at once. In the winter, the metal feels freezing, but you get used to it after the first hour. We just stay busy and try to get things back to the owners as soon as they’re fixed. No big ceremonies at S P Mechanical Works, we just hand over the keys and start the next job.
